I am an urban & transport planner & modeller with experience in teaching, research, and consulting. Currently, I am Professor of Urban Science at the Amrut Mody School of Management, Ahmedabad University.
I have been a Fulbright Visiting Professor at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2012 and a British Chevening Scholar at Imperial College London and UCL in 2002-03.
My research and practice includes sustainable cities and transport; urban transport infrastructure planning & design, public transport accessibility, and land use-transport interaction (for more see Research areas).
In my past full-time jobs, I have been a professor at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, where I taught courses related to urban and transport planning and design, quantitative research methods, and data analysis and visualisation. I joined CEPT in 2011 as head of the MTech in Infrastructure Engineering & Management (MIEM) Program at the Faculty of Technology. In addition, I was Chair, Progress Review Committee for Old Doctoral Program; Head, Doctoral Program, and Head, Academic Staff Office. I was Lecturer at the School of Planning, CEPT from 2001–04. I have been a faculty member at SV Regional College of Engineering and Technology, Surat; Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology, Surat; Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management, Research Associate at the Martin Center, Department of Architecture, Cambridge University; and Project Manager at Environmental Planning Collaborative, Ahmedabad, a not-for-profit urban planning and development management consulting firm, wherein I was involved with Sabarmati (Ahmedabad) and Musi (Hyderabad) riverfront projects, Development Plans, and road design projects.
